We publish book recommendations by mood, genre, and occasion, alongside reading lists, deep dives into genres, and practical advice on building a reading habit. Our sections—Genres, Library Life, Reading Habits, Reading Lists, and Recommendations—cover everything from audiobook narration to digital lending, from literary fiction in translation to crime fiction reading challenges. We also highlight library services most people don’t know they have, and we always note when something is free through your public library.
How we write
Our contributors are library workers and book people: Jonah P on audiobooks and habit-building, Marguerite A on literary fiction and book clubs, Ruth C on mood-based reading and genre hybrids, Sam D on library programs and access, and Theo B on fantasy, crime fiction, and reading challenges. We recommend across decades, not just new releases. We never spoil a plot, and we never shame a reading choice. If a book brought you joy, it belongs in the conversation.
